Our Problems Are Not Unique

I sat down calmly after class, though I was so sure that I had put my poker face on like usual, someone came, immediately sat down in front of me and asked…

“What’s happening? here tell me,”

I was not sure, what he meant but I thought maybe my expression wasn’t as great as I thought. Still, it didn’t mean I want to share, so I said,

“Haha, nothing, it’s ok”

“You seem not, you have been pull that long face for days, did you realize? what’s wrong with telling me? isn’t two head better than one? do the math with me”

I thought, ‘oh no’ I really didn’t want to share, I was so sure, but I said,

“Ei.. Don’t do this, I’m holding on, I really can’t”

And then he was down silent, I was kinda worried if I may offended him, so in my position I looked up to him a few times to see his reactions. But it didn’t long until he said,

“Then let me tell you, you don’t have to worry…”

He didn’t even know what kind of stories I had been in but he said don’t worry, I tried to accept it as sympathize until he continued with the majestic words I really need to hear.

“The world has been living for thousand years, and go on with million sack of humans, one of them, either in the future, past or present. May have the same problem with you and they get out through it”

My ego kicked in, I said faintly, “But they aren’t me, they may not live and think like me”

“You are not unique. There’s nothing unique in this world, not you, not me, not even our problems. And today we can learn everything by our finger, the knowledge is everywhere, and you can have the will to search it to heaven or hell.”

“Then, why there are the ones who failed out there?”

“Haha, because I’m just telling you, whether you will do it or not is up to you. I will ask you then, I already telling you the basic solution so now, what’s left? what’s the problem? the method, the knowledge or the emotion?”

Dang, that statement makes me think so hard. I feel like I have been too greedy and arrogant. Greedy with thinking I have to solve it by myself with my own power, arrogant that I think no one can handle it. Yet, I sat here feeling down because all the emotion in me had became overwhelmed.

“I get it, my emotion is the problem, I can’t handle it as good as I thought. I think a lot of solutions, but they are all just circling in my head cause I judge them so bad”

“That’s why let me hear it, you don’t have to vent out the whole you to me, just give me fraction, I will be an iron to your clothes for minutes. Not because you are incapable of thinking but because you let your emotion taking over you a bit to teach you that you need someone else. I am genius you know, you can rely on my brain”

“What??” we laughed. And since then he became my spiritual teacher, that we share each other theories. Sometimes there’s knowledge we want both us to know, sometimes we don’t want to share and just let the other flex to get the appreciation.

At that time if I keep pestering him to teach me, he would say, “In this one I wouldn’t let you cheat, learn it yourself!”

He is true at that.

Human problem is not unique, there will always be someone out there who experience, experienced, or experiencing same problem with us. We just need to search them, cheat their method and shape it based on our lives. It’s so easy, cause I think human have a talent for the feeling of camaraderie and the idea of “You are not alone on this” is the greatest power of human can hold.

So never think that you don’t have any way out. If you run out of idea to get out from the dark, then, listen to people and find their story who match your problem. Oh right, first you need to have a will and admit it.

Nowadays, there’s so many way to search.

You can ask people anonymous easily, you can even search a lot of theory and make your own diagnoses, although it would be difficult and dangerous, but actually self diagnosed also sign that we make a move to understand something better. So, why don’t you keep learning and even if you are making false statements, you will just have to search it again until you make it. At one point you will realize that you are already different person and there’s a lot of changes in yourself.

Yes, we can’t never guarantee that our journey is good, or if every step we took was right, but the fact that you always move on already proved that you always walk and think for your future.

You can look back sometimes, but don’t dwell on the ‘sigh’ in your chest.

Keep going and then one day you will surprise yourself.
